TechnoHacks is Skyline High School's primiere invention marathon designed to provide middle and high school students from the Issaquah School District an opportunity to learn professional coding and business skills (that they don't teach you in school!), create impactful projects, and win cool prizes.

TechnoHacks will be held at Skyline High School on March 22, 2025, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.

The theme is sustainability. Students will create projects addressing one of the United Nation's 17 Sustainability Goals to contribute to a better world for everyone.

Requirements

What to Build

Ideate and build a mobile app, or a solution to one of the UN's 17 Sustainability Goals that could be feasibly turned into an app in the future. No coding is necessary—we have different prize tracks for those who choose to code and those who don't.

What to Submit

You will submit a write-up of how development went, talking about ideation, the challenges you faced, aspects of your final project that you are proud of, and anything else you want to mention about your app or idea.

Pitching will take place live, so no video submission is required. We will teach you exactly what to mention in your pitch, so don't worry! Always feel free to reach out with any questions you have while working.

Judging Criteria

  • Ingenuity
How creative/new is your idea? Has it been done before? What are you adding to it that makes it better than similar solutions that already exist?
  • Pitch
How concise and informative was your pitch? Did you address ideas like what your app/idea is, who is the target audience, how you built your app, and how you'll continue building the app to make it the best it can be?
  • Solution
Does your solution focus on solving one of the UN's 17 Goals for Sustainability? How feasible is your solution? To what extent does it solve the issue outlined by the UN's goal? For coders—how developed and functional is the final product?
